Re: It is hard to believe that amd is heading toward intel price.

Not surprising at all. AMD confirmed K8L is far down the road and have no hope of matching or beating Intel in overall performance except in >2S servers for at least a year.

Here is what I said a couple months ago back when AMD was still in the $30s:

...Conroe continues to impress on performance. Woodcrest power consumption was excellent and will be even better for the lower clocked desktop lines. It appears that AMD will need to cut X2 prices by 50-75% to deliver the same value as Conroe will.

I feel that many analysts are behind the curve yet again and don't really have a good feel for the magnitude of improvement Intel will make across every category (except 4S servers) in the next year and how it may negatively impact AMD.

It looks like Intel may be getting ready for another big press event on June 6th which may lead to another AMD buying opportunity like the last set of benchmarks did a few months ago. I believe many analysts will turn negative on AMD later this year and even if AMD's sales remain relatively strong the stock will be under $20 in the next year unless AMD hits a homerun with K8L late this year or very early next year.
