You and Robert may want to check the August 19 edition of Business Week. The article on Rockwell indicates that it is leaving areospace behind and going through a major restructuring to become an electronics powerhouse via acquistions, with two main thrusts; industrial automation and semi conductors. It says that Rockwell provides 80% of the chips for fax machines, 65% of those for modems and the guts for digital cordless phones. It has delayed its investment of $1.2 billion in a new chip plant, but indicates that its own chip sales are expected to double this year, versus the industry trend. With $4 billion in cash, it has substantial ability to accomplish its task. Whether buying a chip producing company, or a material supply. In such a scenario, would MEMC be a basic candidate?
