Vietnam earmarks $11 mln for trade promotion Vietnam’s Ministry of Trade plans to spend VND175 billion (US$11 million) on programs to expand export markets and support exports. It will organize over 150 promotions for key products like seafood, rice, tea, fruits and vegetables, footwear, wood products, electronics, computers, and handicrafts.
It will help enterprises expand at home to cope with the expected influx of imported goods from neighboring countries following Vietnam’s recent WTO accession.
There will be campaigns offering incentives to businesses entering some key markets like the US, EU, Japan, Russia, Africa, and the Middle East.
A national trade promotion program for 2006-10 promises to subsidize the cost of renting and decorating booths and air fares to participate in overseas exhibitions.
The ministry attributed a leap in exports last year to $39.6 billion to intense promotion. |
