India Reduces Access Charge on Overseas Phone Calls

March 21, 2007 08:58 EDT -- The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India cut a charge levied on international calls by as much as 100 percent to reduce tariffs in the world's fastest growing mobile-phone services market. Shares of phone companies rose.

This an extremely smart move by the government and the Indian people along with its country are the biggest beneficiary thanks to the free flow of information and communications.

It may raise as much as 1-2 percentage points of the GDP every year and speed up the country's modernization.
