The Iraq War has been beaten to death on many other threads on SI. I would prefer we do not contininue beating a dead horse here.

I completely agree, Kumar.

But, for better or ill, it is the defining issue of US foreign policy at the moment. To seriously discuss the overall fortunes of US foreign policy without including Iraq in the conversations is to ignore the proverbial however many pound gorilla.

It will be interesting to see if Iraq conversations can be avoided.
