al Qaeda, who is still there & is still responsible for most of the suicide bombings and most of the American casualties.

I don't think anyone claims that Al Qaeda is responsible for most of the American casualties. There have been quite a few US military admissions that the insurgency is largely Iraqi, not foreign.
