I don't know what MAD is. I didn't justify mutual annihilation of Americans and Russians. I simply agree that the viable threat of being a Nukee deters one from being a Nuker.

The vatican represents authority over the conduct of catholic adherents. Most catholics in America require the Pope's directives to be sensible and decent or they quit participating. If the Pope directed the Bishops to tell all Cardinals to inform all practicing catholics to kill every American I could see bombing the Vatican, and holding all practicing catholics to account, until we were satisfied the threat was gone. That is not the case for Catholics or for Muslims.

Mecca does not represent authority that directs Muslim conduct of any sort let alone of the terrorist sort. Bombing Mecca would be equal to bombing the church of England if you are a jew and found a Roman Catholic Mexican priest who was a pedophile, so you decided to deter christians. As an individual we would write you off as crazy. If you are a nation like Israel who proclaims your intent to deter christian crime, then what? Every Christian Catholic and Protestant rises up against you, as well as non-Christians who see the injustice of your actions.
