I view some of the criticism as uneven in one sense and justified in another. We are justified in asking for ongoing dialog and assurances that the masses of Muslims haven't validated our enemy status. We need to hear it from average everyday folk but most of us are not in touch with those people. The fear that we live under causes some paranoid psychosis, because we feel threatened but we can't identify the source of threat. Its a normal reaction but one we should try to keep a lid on and use reason to deal with. We want to hear on going condemnations of the radical extremists and have sensible and decent dialog with moderate Muslims but after a while we go deaf when the rhetoric of condemnation does not deter the events. Meanwhile the criticisms of Muslim hand lopping or denial of drivers licenses for women in Saudi seems to give rise to our appalled interpretation of the foreign 'barbarians'. But that's probably us looking for something to be outraged over more than genuine concern. If it were genuine then the Qatarians should be bugging us about what they see. They don't and everyone would think it pretty goofy if they did...
