My argument would be that self financed saudi traitor bin laden, once killed and al zawahiri, brutal killer extraordiaire will not easily be replaced. How many Saudi princes or Saudis with real bucks and bin laden like contacts are waiting in line to move to a cave in afganipak? It will far easier to control saudi wahabis on the macro level. ON the micro level there will be volunteers for suicide for awhile longer. But without international command and control it will be far less likely they can get us. I think hawk is living in a dreamworld that compels him to defend iraq way too much and ignore the real enemy. I think the dems use the taliban in the wrong manner and dont have the balls to really go after bin laden in the way he needs to be gone after. I am happy to use special forces et al but we must go after him where he is and not where we want him to be---in iraq for hawk and in afganistan for pelosi.

Getting OBL will never be a goal that leads to an end, and you cannot demonstrate that it will.
If you wish to begin to understand the power of AQ as a flat organization needing very little leadership, and the errors in your thought line, I recommend a recent short but illuminating book titled, The "Starfish and The Spider". Read it first, then let's talk.
If you wish to understand the errors in Petreaus' thinking, I recommend you read FM 3-24. That is the SF manual on Counter Insurgency written in 1963 that he edited (loosely), then claimed to have rewritten. Next read FM 31-20-3, the recent SF Foreign Internal Defense Manual.
Petreaus chose the wrong manual. And neither his antiquated nor your ill-informed ideas will lead us to the type of victory you desire.
And don't be so brash in brushing off Hawk. Your inexperience and lack of education about war (Sorry draft dodging does not count.) is no reason to brush off Hawk's extensive battlefield experience and military education in unconventional warfare. Give Hawk his due.
My friend, your negative emotional responses to Hawk's ample UW experience do not compare. Your inexperience does not even allow you to recognize an expert in the subject nor does it provide you the wisdom to ask an appropriate question.
