What does the 35 years under Saddam have to do with the flaming hatred of many of the current generation of Iraqi children watching the Americans who are directly responsible for the violent deaths of so many family members?

"It was 2003 when I posted on SI that the US invasion of Iraq was a mistake UNLESS we were prepared to be there (AND PAY THE PRICE) for a generation long worth of time, effort and money. If one understands that 30 years under a dictator has shaped the thought process of the current adult, and it takes about the same time to educate todays kids (tomorrows adults) that the world has changed, its not hard to understand the results we have seen.

Today it seems obvious to me that we do not want to do that. Therefore, we should leave the country and let them manage it in whatever way they want."
