Korea has it's own government, stable since before the Korean War. We never meddled openly in their internal affairs. But I'm certainly not adverse to bringing them home and stationing them on the Mexican border.

We never "meddled" in Korea's government after the cease-fire? Who are you kidding. S. Korea is FAR more democratic than it was under Syngman Rhee. And who's to say that the US wasn't behind some of the positive changes, even as the CIA spirited him away to Hawaii, after he was forced to resign as the result of a fraudulent election?

Btw, I happen to agree with you.. I'm not opposed to having US troops leave Korea..

Just as soon as the S. Koreans ask us to leave.

So now we are UN peacekeepers in Iraq? That's gotta be the laugh of the day. Would that there were a UN force in Iraq.

It's a UN authorized mission. The overthrow of Saddam was the result of his "material breach" of a cease-fire agreement that provided a condition end to hostilities after Saddam's forces were evicted from Kuwait (a point I'm sure you've deliberately ignored).

And Saddam, in 1993, had ordered that his intelligence service engage outside parties (Islamic terrorists) to attack American personnel and interests.

Just because they aren't wearing Blue berets doesn't mean they aren't authorized under the UN mandate to remain until requested to leave.

However, obviously you're in favor of some other form of government in Iraq.. Why not just come out and tell us you would like either the Ba'thists, Ba'thists, or Mahdists to assume power in Iraq.

It would certainly represent your apparent point of view more effectively.
