Pertinence. Interesting take. I think its petulance, perhaps petulance coming from lack of pertinence. All kidding aside, russia moving to a more autocratic model might be taking the wrong lesson from the chinese experience. Its not communist party control that has turned china into an econonic dynamo---its the freedom of their people in the economic sphere that has unleashed things. In russia, the autocrats are not progressive in this way. They are trying to control capitalism and relying way too much on what may be fleeting oil wealth. Maybe they are following the saudi model on oil too much combined with some military and political adventurism??
