Hi Michael. I'm not stretching it. I only pointed out that what he actually said is far different from what he was purported to have said. This isn't the first time that his words have been mistranslated or, as you phrased my post, "stretched," and then trumpeted by many alarmists as reflecting the dangers of Iran.
As with the wmds in Iraq, whenever someone tries too hard to make something look worse than it is I begin to wonder why they need to spin so hard.
I've seen him interviewed and he has his radical views but he's not some out-of-control, "messenger of Allah," fruitcake.
And I didn't miss the "occupier" word in his quoted statement. I don't know whether he means that the State of Israel is an "occupier" or whether he's referring to the illegal settlements. If, however, he refers to the State of Israel, he's simply reflecting the rhetoric of most of the non-Jewish Mideast.
Finally, the next regime in Israel may not matter much to him but it certainly matters to most of the rest of us. I hope it's not as incompetent and aggressively warlike as the two prior regimes. That didn't work, doesn't work and won't work.
