Nadine, re: "Interesting, isn't it Hawk, that the political community in the US that has devoted itself to denying the existence of such a large swath of current geopolitical reality, i.e., the rise of radical Islamism, is the same community that likes to call itself "reality based"?"
Well, for starters, in the reality based community we don't dream up the non-starter that radical Islamism isn't a current and threatening geopolitical reality. So I guess your starting assumption is about as valid as most of your other world views.
What we do consider is how our past actions have affected it's rise and what we can do to dampen it, or at least not fan the flames.
You, on the other hand, are looking at tactics and strategies that have failed dismally in Israel, from the Russians and from our own country, and....DRUM ROLL....advocating we up the ante using virtually the same failed assumptions and strategies.
The difference between you and the reality based community is that the reality based community accurately predicted the failure of such strategies, accurately predicted that the problem would be worsened through the use of such strategies and early on recognized the signs of failure while you did none of the above.
So I wouldn't be too quick to put false words in the mouths of more accurate thinkers and I wouldn't be too quick to denigrate the thinking of those who've unfortunately been proven RIGHT by the only test that counts; history. Ed |
