Deere buys China company
Friday June 8, 10:14 am ET

Deere & Co., which has 1,000 Triangle employees, said Friday that it will expand its business in China.

The Illinois company will acquire Ningbo Benye Tractor & Automobile Manufacture Co., a southern-China manufacturer. The acquisition will enable the company to sell small, low-horsepower tractors in addition to the beefier machines it now sells in China, Deere said.

Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

Deere houses the headquarters of its consumer division in Cary and also has a facility in Fuquay-Varina.
