Would like to suggest a theory here...

Given that Gaza is in a state of civil war (will the West Bank follow?), what are the odds of Israel granting Egypt "permission" to directly intervene in Gaza?

Certainly the Israelis can't intervene directly, nor do they really have an interest in doing so, except to protect their own people from attack.

So will the Arab world permit the Palestinians to turn their war against Israel into an internal civil war? Will such a civil war, that has fanatical Muslims directly confronting the power elite, manifest some dangerous and undesirable thoughts? Might it make more sense for Egypt on side, and Jordan on the other, opt to resume their "caretaker" status for Palestinians?

I don't know.. but it appears this power struggle in Gaza isn't just going to go away.
