While I didn't say it in the prior post, I can say that QUALCOMM made no declarations of having essential IPR in the GSM Phase 2+ (GSM/GPRS/EGPRS) GERAN standards until 2004. They made no other public claims of having essential IPR in the GSM Phase 2+ (GSM/GPRS/EGPRS) standards until they asserted claims of GSM/GPRS/EGPRS IPR infringement against Broadcom in July of 2005, and subsequently against Nokia in November 2005 and celebrated those claims in press releases I've cited prior. Some of the patents they declared as essential to the GSM Phase 2+ (GSM/GPRS/EGPRS) standards were declared as early as 2001 as being essential to the 3GPP 3G (UMTS) standards. There is a listing here of the patents initially asserted against Nokia with patent number, patent date, ETSI declaration date, etc. ... Message 23323460 There may be typos in the above list.
