Last week we saw how Antarctic ice is advancing, but somehow this never makes the news despite huge coverage of Arctic ice retreats.

One good reason for this may well be that there has been no measured warming in Antarctica over the last 50 years.

In previous years it was too cold for snow or ice to reach the interior of Antarctica. It was the driest place on earth. Warming means that moisture can penetrate further before it precipitates. Of course that is just a phase as the real danger of global warming is the constant change. The weather will change faster than the organisms can adapt or migrate.
