Viatel's President Michael Mahoney featured in a Fortune article (in two parts): exchange2000.com exchange2000.com Discusses Viatel's selection of a modern and adaptable network system plus tremendous opportunities in European markets: when European rules against foreign competition ease next year, the Continent's absurdly overpriced services will attract U.S. carriers looking to fatten their profit margins. Viatel's Michael Mahoney points out that a leased telephone line carrying two million bits of information per second between Chicago and New York costs $3,500 a month.
