No. First, I bought CLL because of its oil sands, not because of its refinery. The refinery is nice, but it is a minor part of the picture. Second, VLO's miss was caused primarily because of problems and associated expenses at a number of its refineries. My hunch is that VLO used the problems as excuses to do a more thorough and lengthy maintenance, taking advantage of the low crack spread environment. By the way, I do trade VLO occasionally and will be tempted to buy again in the mid-forties. My last trade was back in January.
