Winter has come early to the north. The ponds and small lakes are aleady froze over and we have snow on the ground. On the weekend two snowmobile enthusiasts went to one of the local lakes which has a loonshit bottom. They unloaded their machines at the boat launch and had great fun roaring along the shore and venturing out onto the ice.
Then they stopped about fourty feet out from the dock and got off their machines to have a talk. Imagine their horror when the machines broke through the ice and sank through five feet of water and into the foul smelling lakebottom.
As they and their buddies struggled to winch the machines out a couple
car loads of Kayakers showed up looking for open water.
