you notice that Nehalem's L2, while smaller, has LOWER latency than Penryn's L2, right?

do you bother reading my posts before replying ?

"Now the situation is not totally analagous as the front end before the cache has been reworked and L2 latency has gone down about 27% as well but there could be cache-bound situations where it could bite"

And once again, you should really consider this argument:

From a biased Intel employee ? I'll pass and anyway Intel Architects have already distinguished themselves with Pentium 4 and Itanium 1 ;-). Processor architecture is all about making choices and tradeoffs and sometimes you make the wrong choices for your markets and your company suffers, there is no golden processor roadmap anywhere saying this is how you do things. CISC,RISC,EPIC and hybrid architectures like x86 are just guys taking some ideas and running with them, nothing is guaranteed of success. Tenchu wants me to be lazy like him and trust in guys who study *past* successes, no thanks. Anyway you had no trouble dismissing these arguments before when you was an AMD investor, what changed ? ;-)
