Ish...and Tommaso...I live in central Nebraska, surrounded by sections of corn. Just drove 200 miles of eastern Neb and across the 305 miles of Iowa, and another 150 to Chicago. Iowa's state public radio (not the feds)is saying at least 3 million acres of corn flood loss, 1.5 soybeans flood loss, 20% of the state not planted. Iowa state est.the loss at 3 billion. The 200 miles of Nebr corn is all 4" high junk, but the state says 65% of it, and the beans planted, will produce. I doubt that. It is devastating and sad. The 3 sections around our home were sold forward to the ethanol plant here at $5.60. With the loss, I understand the current $8.00 bu + at harvest will have to be covered...a loss of $97,000 per section, if $8 holds. The US govt 9% est is one hugh lie. Best to all. |
