Ray, I understand and share your sentiment, but in all fairness the '87 crash should be seen on a Log chart, at the very least. It wasn't so small. Also notice that it took a few years until the market was able to decisively break out to new highs.

I remember '87, and it was no fun.... :)

As for talking heads and all other bulls - you need 3 factors in order to have people become deeply disappointed and turned off and pessimistic towards equities. 1st - you need a decline in prices. 2nd - you need multiple disappointments, serial heartbreaks (aka, failed reversals). And last but not least - you also need TIME.

So far only the 1st factor had a real impact.

This three of three down was one heck of a wave. We may or may not have similar fireworks in the future, but this bear is far from over.
