When I read "ilk" I know I am reading an unreasonably biased opinion <The real issue has never been whether Griffin and his ilk should be allowed to join the show's panel. The fundamental problem is how the mainstream parties can reconnect with the electorate and assuage their fury. With British parliamentary elections due by June 2010, party tacticians may be tempted to borrow from the BNP's populist playbook, talking tough on immigration and integration. Such rhetoric often proves a vote winner. But exploiting voters' discontent can simply stoke it. Until mainstream parties figure out how to earn back public trust and respect, the lunatic fringes will gain ground. >

The so-called "lunatic fringe" is interested in their property rights, aka tradable citizenship [even if they don't know that's what they really mean].

They are sick of being fleeced by politicians, hordes of bludgers, knifed by criminal immigrants and their descendants and bombed and threatened by the IRA and Islamic Jihad. If they remembered him, they would now say that Enoch Powell was right after all.

PS: I admit to having used the word ilk, to try it out. Message 25313629 Normally ilk is used as a term of denigration. I have used it as a term of approbation and endearment and tried it as bigot bias but it's unsatisfying being too cliched and past its use-by date.
