We also know that the Obama Administration's response has been pathetic.

It has been? How so?

Whatever legal implications are keeping the Feds from being more involved can be all overridden if the chief executive assumes executive powers and moves in with BP to do things like ordering supertankers to like they did in SA etc .

First of all, its questionable whether there was supertankers doing anything in Saudi Arabia after the Gulf War. I did a quick search and all I came up with is that there was a 11 million barrel 'spill' in Saudi Arabia during the Iraq war of which 1 million barrels was scooped up......or less than 10%. Its been reported recently that boats working in the GOM have been able to scoop up about 10% of the spill..or the same percentage amount in SA:

Secondly, the Obama administration would be incredibly stupid to take control of this spill for way too many important reasons.

Thirdly, if these super tanker scoopers did exist why would they be waiting around for a large oil spill every 20 years. I am sure the owners have better uses for those tankers.

Fourthly, every major oil company has sent their best people to the GOM to try to find solutions to the problem. Why wasn't this ex Shell guy that koan posted about not sent?

The hysterics really are starting to get out of control over this issue and the rest of us need to be careful to take what they say with a grain of salt.
