<companies which I can "take to the bank" for the next 10 years for long term capital appreciation and will perform better than QCOM for the next 10>

Here's one, which I bought recently. It will probably be a LT holding:

FSLR, First Solar:
has developed a proprietary Cadmium-Telluride Thin-Film solar power technology, which makes it the low-cost producer in the industry. #1 in global market share, at 8.4% and increasing.

PE = 18 = 129/7.05, using GAAP 2010 EPS estimates. That EPS is fairly certain, because FSLR is running at 100% capacity utilization, and has sold out all production through end-of-year.

GAAP EPS:
$0.07 2006
$2.03 2007
$4.24 2008
$7.53 2009
$7.05 2010 estimate

50% gross margins, best in the industry: Message 26564464

little debt, lots of cash: Message 26441811

Industry growth (measured in megawatt capacity of solar panels produced): 30-50%/year, historical and expected LT future.

my rules for investing in the solar industry: Message 26495563

company website: investor.firstsolar.com

It would be an interesting exercise, to compare the future prospects of QCOM and FSLR.

disclosure: long QCOM at 36$, long FSLR at 105$ and 125$, all purchases this year
