Those who support Canada's interests have been pushing this for decades. Despite claims that Encana was in the game, their pipeline was destined for US termination. Hardly a benefit to eastern Canadians. Only TransCanada had the concept right. From a year ago: "The TransCanada proposal would send 625,000 barrels a day across the country to Montreal, Quebec City and potentially Saint John, N.B., where Irving Oil Ltd. runs a large refinery. Tanker exports could then also take the crude to Europe or Asia."
