For over a year there's been FUD and opposition here, but this appears to be an idea whose time has come. Those who support Canada's interests have been pushing this for decades. Despite claims that Encana was in the game, their pipeline was destined for US termination. Hardly a benefit to eastern Canadians. Only TransCanada had the concept right. From a year ago:

"The TransCanada proposal would send 625,000 barrels a day across the country to Montreal, Quebec City and potentially Saint John, N.B., where Irving Oil Ltd. runs a large refinery. Tanker exports could then also take the crude to Europe or Asia."

You were never alone. And now, the majority of Canadians support a west-east pipeline. As do federal and provincial governments. Getting Alberta oil to Canada's east coast is long, long overdue.
