One my blog today someone asked me how accurate was Ralph Acumpora with past market timing calls.... I was not able to give the data because I am unaware if it is published anywhere.

I had a similar discussion with a friend last week. I said there is a saying "faith healers don't work in hospitals." They work in the sticks where you find uneducated morons... Market timing for many from Bob Brinker to many here I've outed is little different from what I can tell... They make a lot of calls, don't publish records of a real money portfolio that people could use to follow their advice, etc... When they actually have a real portfolio, they wonder why they can't match the returns advertised.

A few are correct that long term stocks go up because that is the way to move wealth from suckers to the elite with "momentum stocks" and "market timing schemes" while relying on the good business and returns of the boring stock market to provide cover.

I think some of us can add value with stock selection and some small bit of timing much like Warren Buffett does where he buys or adds to positions when the market is down and he takes profits and even eliminates positions when it is up, but overall the real return is from being in the market and not getting suckered into the huge momentum plays that eventually crash and burn.
