Hi Basher,......You ought to start paying attention.

volkswagon will be paying some taxes for decades
Like what?????? Volkswagon gets a reprieve on all State Income Taxes and All local property taxes.

How long before Tenn gets its $500 million dollars back??? (if ever)

Now Ohio, with Republican Governor and Michigan with a Republican Governor, and both states have Republican State Houses....passed on this Volkswagon deal.

When you head north from Tenn, math skills improve.

I'm not bashing Republicans in this matter as much as I'm bashing politicians who make stupid deals not in the best interest of their citizens. If Tenn had all Democratic politicians it would still be a stupid deal.

This is very close to spending $100 dollars to solve a $1.00 problem.

Keep in mind that every tax dollar any politician spends foolishly, has to be made up by some one else.

Try your math out....$15.00 an hour x's 2080 work hours per year ='s $31, 200 per employees (annual salary) multiply this by 1500 (employed workers) and again by 6% (Tenn Income tax rate) and you get about $2,808,000 in state income taxes (max). I did not include and exemptions on the state income tax, and so Im being generous.

And....there is nothing to prevent Volkswagon from walking away from this plant at some point in the future. Auto plants move around all the time. If the product line Volkswagon makes in Tenn turns into a flop that plant could become history.

Cheers
