I have a hard time taking anyone seriously when they introduce you to something new and do not take the time to tell you what the letters POET stand for.... maybe it is just poor writing and editing? Lots of things are faster than Silicon, we used much more exotic materials for Lasers and LEDs plus their integrated driver electronics... but they are not cheap. You have a winner when the overall cost performance metric is broken... and nothing in those articles said anything about that.
