Jerome,

Have you ever toured an automotive plant?

The volkswagen plant is an assembly plant.

Assembly plants become the hub of many other smaller manufacturing operations.

The frames are welded in an assembly plant or shipped there depending on the design.

The drive trains the window asemblies the interiors all are in very close proximity.

It is all part of just in time manufacturing.

It becomes the center of a much larger complex.

If the product is successful even foundries and drive train plants move in.

It will mean land sales to others and tax benefits far beyond just the initial assembly plant.

The payroll will be a multiple of just the initial assembly line.

Workers with high pay to write programs for the assembly plant will move in.Robot makers and repairmen will all pay taxes.

It is a very competitive event when building a new assembly plant.

The absence of these plants They were all shut down due to high cost structures has created Michigan's economic collapse.

In the early 70's I worked in GM's plants all accross the USA.

Back in those days local governments tapped the manufacturing base so hard they were not competitive.

The rest is history GM and Chrysdler went BK. Much of the underlying cause was an antiquated taxing of the manufacturing companies when the rest of the world was doing the opposite with tax abatement plans.

Couple that with entrenched unions that only cared about dues and a hard headed approach about work rules that were stifling . You end up broke.

The margins that used to be in the auto manufacturing sector are long gone and new efficiencies (robots ) and much smaller tax revenues for the government are here to stay.

Your big government (progressive ways) and the taxes they create, are being run from by the modern manufacturers.

It is seen here in Wisconsin - there is an area just North of the Illinois border that is undergoing a construction boom.

All manufacturers that moved from Illinois to Wisconsin.

As you enter the state there is a big sign that says "Welcome to Wisconsin - Open for business"

It's working - with time your progressive tendencies will be proven to failure, and then I'll take credit for leading you to the truth.

Don't feel bad - you've just had too much crap blasted in your ears at a liberal college and it takes years to learn what is academic and what is truth.

Those beloved professors are members of the most entrenched union there is.

They are the main reason that a college education has increased much faster than inflation.

Tell a techer they should lose their tenure and you will hear the howl of a progressive to the highest decible.

I'm now up in Wisconsin - maybe we should down a case of beer this summer some time eh?

Bob
