Unintended Consequences.......................................of not raising the minimum wage.

Viewpoints on this matter by all posters are well known. (some for and some against).

The House of Representatives will not bring this matter to a vote.......for now Boehner rules and that's the way it is.

In months past $10.10 an hour seemed a far reach.

But at the state level.....raising the minimum wage will be a fall campaign issue.

detroitnews.com

Take Michigan for example.....Republican Governor, solid Republican majorities in both state houses. And yesterday they voted to raise the minimum wage to $9.25 per hour.

Here is how doing nothing has dire consequences for Republicans. In Michigan doing nothing about the minimum wage made it a campaign issue and a ballot proposition with far more than enough signatures to qualify. The ballot issue would raise the minimum to $10.10 an hour with no exceptions.

The Republicans figured (correctly) that this would dramatically increase voter turnout in the mid terms, and an increased turnout would favor the Democrats. Some Republicans had a very thin margin of victory last election.

I think the Republicans (at the national level) should raise the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour. Because action at the state level will push state referendums to a much higher level.

Stock Talk.....Is INTC on a breakout pattern???? INTC is breaking out to a new high, and the news about this company has been mostly positive. In my opinion....consistently positive headlines about any given stock will result in an upward stock price trend. Not very scientific ...but worth noting.
