Hey Kirk, you might be on to something.......

destroying the fabric of the country.
The fabric of the country is changing in a way that was never envisioned by the founders.

The internet is partly responsible. Consider this : Forty years ago if you did something stupid, your family and your neighbors might find out and that would be the end of it. Now do something stupid and the whole world knows within a day or two. Its like having a loudspeaker inside a confessional.

Forty years ago an insurgent in a foreign county with a few guns would never be noticed. Now that same insurgent shows up on Facebook and the nightly news as a force to be dealt with.

You talked about civility on a previous post. The internet allows us to verbally attack each other without any consequences. The neighbors on my street are Republicans and Democrats. I would not think of heaping abuse on my Republican neighbors, because we are all part of the same pack. But on the internet you can say and do things that would not be accepted in a face to face situation.

I think that civility toward others has to be relearned. TV and the media has far too much confrontational "in your face stuff" to do us any good.
