BTW, former President Bush II was very popular right up until he proposed changing Social Security to let people invest a part of their SS Taxes directly into the market, perhaps through super low cost index funds companies would bid on to manage for the lowest fees. I believe that was stepping on the third rail as it would make a huge percentage of the population aware of how well index investing works so the money bags went after him... and also all those who depend no SS payments for their profits from bigger government went after him too.

Money bags then found Obama to back because he was and is more Socialist leaning and would let government continue to squander SS tax collection dollars.... Moneybags don't give a chit who is in power as long as they can keep their hands in our pockets with legal confiscation via government taxation.

At the time Obama was running for Pres, I suggested Moneybags wanted "green investments" to succeed as that was where the VC money was flowing and they were backing Obama.... now they get $10K or so from taxpayers to buy a status symbol auto that runs on incremental electricity in CA that comes from coal with special stickers that allow them to drive in car pool and toll lanes without paying extra! Why not use the $10K per Tesla to shut down the coal plants? Connect the dots.....
