Hi Kirk.....
former President Bush II was very popular right up until he proposed changing Social Security
His popularity or unpopularity was far more closely related the was in Iraq.

For people receiving Social Security benefits for a third of them SS is the only source of income.

Messing with SS in any way is suicidal for any politician (Democrat, Republican, Independent, etc.)

The SS program will need some adjustments to stay solvent......but talking about it ts just a sure way to kill a campaign for election.

I have wondered how much a strong economy would help the SS trust fund?

Its also likely that disability qualifications for benefits have been too lenient, and too generous.

I think that the SS program will be hard pressed to stay self funding.
