I have to join in on this exchange, as I've found all the "reasons" for location to be fascinating.

After all is said and done, age finally becomes a factor in deciding where to live. When my kids were very young (as well as my wife and me) we decided to move from metro Denver to the SW part of Colorado. We settled in Durango and lived there for only a little over a year. The small town, as beautiful as that area is, grew old rather quickly. Even though there is a college in Durango, the area is very limited in extras. We moved to a better job and more opportunity for the kids.
Fast forward to today. I recently turned 78 and, for the most part, enjoy reasonably good health. I was widowed nearly 20 years ago and both my kids are successful and living several hundred miles away and we rarely see each other. We talk regularly and have a good relationship, just aren't interested in travel.
I never remarried and have been back in the Denver area for several years now. Winters here are getting harder to deal with and my brother has suggested I consider a move to St. Petersburg, FL, where his extended family lives. I've been pondering that idea for a couple years, but that's a very big move in my mind.
I'm going to go through the coming winter one more time in Colorado. By spring I may be very ready for Florida.... we'll see. I may have to take up golf once more. I know I'll miss the mountains.... sigh....
