Hey Kirk....following is a very good article about the stock analysts from CITI....and why they should not be trusted. Seems that they can have buy ratings on a stock for some clients and a sell rating on the same stock for other clients. The analysts confess that when they say a stock is a hold they really mean that it is a sell????

From Bloomberg...

Some folks pay attention to changes in analysts ratings for a stock......I suspect the game is rigged to bring more trades to the trading desk of the analysts sponsors.

I have never read of a hedge fund manager that put much stock in what analysts have to say. Its more of a case that the hedge fund manager looks over the investment landscape and tries to decipher which investment trends have the best chance of doing well.
