Question about self driving cars and ethics.

Would you buy a car that will kill you to protect two strangers?

What if you are driving alone in a self driving, smart car on a twisty, windy road on the side of a cliff.

What if you go around a blind turn and two bicycle riders are in the wrong lane driving towards you in your lane?

Does the car hit the two bicycle riders and probably kill them or does it drive off the cliff and kill you?

Does the car protect the many at the expense of the few?

When I used to drive my raced out Fiat X1/9 hard in the hills (Page Mill Road. damn... that was a long time ago!) I had a rule that I had to stay in my lane to keep it fairly safe.

Once I went around a blind turn and there were two motorcycle riders not playing by my rules...heading towards me in my lane.

I was not going to go off the cliff so I moved to the right as much as I could and they managed to just miss me...

Would a self driving car made the assumption that they could move quickly enough back towards their lane to not crash into me with our own evasive maneuvers?

BTW, I long ago stopped driving hard in our hills as bike riding here is so popular and the idiots don't stay in their lanes and they can't get out of the way... now and then they go off the cliffs on their own and die without hitting cars.
