When you think how the politicians in US cities and states, especially the big ones where the money to be made is huge, have traded HUGE pensions for government workers who can retire after 30 years... or in their early 50s for many, in exchange for votes, we'll see similar problems here.

Allowing firefighters and police to retire with a high percentage of salary after 30 years in a high stress job is fine as it is incentive for them to not take small bribes and risk their pensions... but retiring after 30 years of pushing papers at a desk in a librarian job or teaching kids or doing other desk jobs that in the private sector pay less and only come with Social Security???? Yeah, we're in line for deep trouble too.
