I think the market will end up selling off enough to at least a 2011 like scenario. As you have correctly noted during that sell off the S&P 500 narrowly missed closing down 20%. Had that happened the talking heads on TV would not be able to say this has been an extremely long bull market. Just a long one.

There will come a time when I will be entering into long term positions. I need to make a plan for exiting those positions, or one for trading around them, as I think you do.

These questions are for everyone here.

How do you decide how much profit to take on your initial purchases? Do you sell a percentage?

How do you decide when to buy back? Do you buy back when it has fallen a certain amount?

Do you hold stocks that pay good dividends regardless of how much they run or fall?

I tend to work only off technical, market breadth and sentiment analysis. I'm certain I can buy close enough to the next bottom to make huge profits but I need a plan for profit taking and letting winners run.

Thanks, RtS
