OT Bear attacks. My brother put a trail cam on a trail above where our family cabin burned down in the 2004 Geyser's fire in Sonoma. He went up to check on it when the recent fire was just over the ridge (at the Geyser plant) and he got a video of a black bear! We've heard the coyotes and often see deer that he also got on the video, but the bear was a surprise. If I go up there again, I may have to buy a LOUD firearm to take hiking. Three shots in the air is the distress signal so you'll get family to come running and hopefully the shots will also scare off the bear.
