K Black Bears are dangerous and most people do not realize just how . Where they are hunted regularly by man they are terrified of him . If not why would they be afraid of someone or some thing so puny .

Growing up on a farm or near to , one hears story's of ducks , roosters attacking humans can you imagine a teen aged bear in the wild . When in the wild it is when black bears sneak up on you , like peaking around a tree or bush at you , that you are in trouble . At that point fight for your life with noise action what ever because that is how they hunt , ambush .

Best safety is to store food about 100 yards from tent in a tree . Absolutely no treats in the tent . All over the Northern Forests every year Black Bears attack and kill or injure but it usually happens in a small community with a weekly newspaper . The news never makes the nightly news or the major papers . One month it is in Northern Quebec , next Alberta ect . You never hear about Northern Russia .

Some books out there on this read one .
