Of course the GOP was for it. That is why the democrats opposed it but notice both houses signed the bill AFTER he took office. He used his "good will" period after the election to move forward a GOP proposal and PUSH enough democrats for it to pass in both houses to sign it. It was one of several reasons many of us moderates liked him.

I am not arguing if it was a good or bad thing. I'm just saying NAFTA would have NEVER passed with him in office if he not only pushed democrats to sign the bill then sign the final law when it came to his desk.

Hell, the house and senate might have bills now to eliminate ACA which even Obama now calls "Obamacare" but they don't get anywhere because the president vetos the bills and the GOP doesn't have enough votes to override a veto.
