SpeedFam Intl Sells Edge Polisher System To MEMC Electronic

CHANDLER, Ariz. (Dow Jones)--SpeedFam International Inc. (SFAM) sold a
300-millimeter edge polisher system to MEMC Electronic Materials Inc.
(WFR).
Financial terms were not disclosed.
In a press release Thursday, SpeedFam said it delivered the system to
MEMC Electronic's manufacturing facilities in St. Peters, Mo.
Speedfam said its 300-millimeter edge polisher system polishes both
sides of the unfinished silicon wafer edge, reducing particulates being
transmitted to the wafer front surface from the wafer edge during device
fabrication.
MEMC Electronics, St. Peters, Mo., makes silicon wafers.
SpeedFam International designs, develops, makes and markets chemical
mechanical planarization systems.
