I have two HDTV sets now. A 52" in the living room and 32" in the exercise room. They are both about 11 years old... ie heavy and lots of wasted space.

I was waiting for good HDR and an idea if quantum dot or OLED is better. Consumer Reports loved the OLED and a buddy who I used to work with and did a few years doing optical stuff for these TVs just before they retired him and others to form Avago... kept telling me to wait (many years) for the HDR and other specs before updating. He bought the 2016 version of this set last year, loves it and well.... we have to spend profit taking dollars on ourselves or what is the point? <grin>

I get HD content from DISH and can stream directly from my phone. Dish only has 4K content now on pay per view and some streaming movies you pay extra for. Amazon claims to have 4K available if your device can handle it.... A 4K blue Ray player is probably $200 plus the cost to rent movies so I may upgrade my DVR at Dish for a lot of extra features besides 4K then rent movies from them now and then rather than bother with a 4K Blue Ray. It will be fun to experiment... if I ever find the time! Until then, I should get much better motion and blacks with the new set. Also, I think it was an extra $200 to $400 over another model with lower sound quality. Mostly during the day I save power by using my TV sound but in the evening I have a fairly high end HiFi audio system to use for the superior sound. That may be the next upgrade with newer audiophile speakers like Ohm Walsh or something along those lines. Currently I have some big, heavy, 25 yr old a/d/s monitor speakers.

Men and our toys! Emily loves to watch movies with me on the couch rather than at a theater so that is a good excuse too.
