No tax on basic foods stuffs.

auto's are 6.25%

No state income taxes

real estate taxes are high if you live in a community that has a lot of deed restrictions.

Generally much lower if you live in rural areas , but no deed restrictions means your neighbor could put a double wide next to your million dollar house - so buy a lot of property.

Texas has a lot of property and generally an acre is very inexpensive if you buy 40 - 80 acres.
