Indeed. Retired and semiretired people using interest on their savings to live on slashed spending. Rates are still very low on an historical level, but we may see them spend again. Actually, older ones who retired thinking they'd get 5% on CD savings and only got 1% are so far behind due to living off their nest egg, that they may never spend much again but newly retired folks might have more to spend.
