imho, I hope it is someone who could steer this thread back to it's
original intention.

The header says "tell us a joke". It doesn't say "post a funny video"
or "copy and past a cartoon"

That's easy. To convey a joke that is not from the ice age,
put in one's own words to make people laugh requires
a bit more thought.

Also, would hope that there are less mean spirited, thinly veiled
slurs that insult entire races, or polarize one political party
against another.

And, imo, less toilet humour.

Brevity is the sole of wit.

OK, my joke:

Man walks by a construction site
surrounded by hoarding.

He hears someone shouting "thirteen, thirteen!"
Curious, he peeks through a hole in the hoarding,
and recoils from a nasty poke to his eye.

Then he hears someone shouting, "fourteen, fourteen!"
