I will always have a certain disdain for GE because my first foray into the stock was when it was in free fall during the "great recession". I can't even remember what price I bought it at (maybe ~$13ish) -- but what I do remember (and will never forget) is the CEO had just been questioned about whether or not the dividend would hold and he said "YES"

WITHIN ABOUT 30 DAYS THE DIVIDEND WAS CUT.

I sold at a loss and watched it go to hellinahandbag so to speak.
